the input type button doesnt have to display as a button though? You can easily use some CSS to make it appear as normal text. would that work? -

You may have to use the LEFT function as well to skip the REQ word to bring back numbers only

It looks like you're after the latest ticket. Can you not order by and select top 1?

Hi
I've done this is MsSql, but this won't work in Oracle.
In MsSql, a simple
WHERE ColumnName LIKE '[L][1-9]%'
will return L1, L2, L3, L4 etc
How do I do this with Oracle
Thank you

Let's not complicate things :)
Actually, thankfully, I work in a small company - so I can ensure that it's PC only and only for W7, Vista and XP

local paths of users computer (XP vs W7)
Hi
My WPF (C#) application creates a new folder in the users documents folder.
There are many differences in folder structures between XP and W7. This is from the MSDN website

I did that originally, same error. I only added the Convert.ToStrin g due to the cannot convert type char to string error message.
Any other ideas?Leave a comment:

C# - split method - cannot convert char to string
Hi
I've had a few error messages with this I don't understand why. It works fine in a Windows Form, but now moving it to a website, it's not working. I don't have the option to count the lines as I did with Windows Forms so I assume the best way is to use the split method. However, the split method only returns Character Arrays, and I want a string, so am calling the split from the Text.RegularExp ression namespace.

This is insane. It's now working. I think there must be a bug on my system, I have literally been doing this (on and off) over the past 12 hours.
The code works perfectly. I changed the routine from protected to public, ran it and it worked. I then changed it back to protected, and it still works...
Sorry if any one spent any time on this, it is clearly a bug with my setup/installation etc.
Thanks

Hi
Had another look.
It appears when you build a recordset or dataadapter, the where clause ignores what columns appear in your select command and looks at the columns available on the actual view on SQL.
I've managed to replicate this now with my C# code and it is fine.

Hi Frinny
Thank you (again) for your help. As disapointing as it is to have to continue this way as sometimes the logic is more complicated than simple if else statements, it is quite re-assuring to know this is a 'normal' programming dilema and there is not a simple solution. At least I'm on the right path and using the language effectively!
I am using T-SQL and C# so I guess it's case statements for me!!

How to apply conditions to databound objects
I use a repeater on my website.
My code for this example is
Now, depending on the result of the dataitem will depend on what I want to display. For example, The databitem may show a true or false value, and depending on which one I want to show a different result on my page....Code:<ItemTemplate> Item: <%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Col")%><br> </ItemTemplate>

I have written a windows form which connects to SQL. It works! I'm now trying to running it 'remotely' from another country. It fails!!
When I connect from the remote location, I get the SQL error : "Login failed for user. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. "
I have logged onto the server, right click on the name, properties, security and it shows mixed mode.
