It isn't just a singe file to download. In linux, you need to open up your console (command propt), then type whatever is said in the wine installation guide, en then everything gets downloaded automatically and put in the right place.

    edit:
hmmm, already said while I was typing

But why don't you download it yourself, and again wine isn't something to just download like any other file.

Recieving a file = downloading, no?
And you can get the kubuntu installation cd's for free.

edit: wait a minute, it was for your professor, right? just tell him about Wine

This thread is kind of wandering around a bit. But anyway, I'd like to make a couple of points.
                    • By definition, virus writers are not "good" programmers. They're evil programmers.
                    • VACEPROGRAMMER, please refrain from asking people on TheScripts to e-mail you illegal copies of software. That is the sort of behaviour which is likely to result in a ban.
                    • All concerned, the tone seems to have improved again, but please skip the bickering and stick to the original purpose of the thread.
                    • Also to all concerned, I realise it's ridiculous to expect perfect English, from anyone. Especially since we're scattered around the world and English varies quite a bit. But could you at least turn on spell checking, please? (Assuming you're using a real browser, that is, and not Internet dEstroyer).
Keep in mind that some day you may need to find this discussion again, by searching for specific words. "Command propt" for example, may make it that little bit more difficult.
                    • VACEPROGRAMMER, if your professor needs software, tell him/her to download it. Why waste hours of your and other people's time doing it?
                    • As for my name; I prefer to remain anonymous, thanks very much.

There's spell checking in FF? Where? This browser is getting better with everything new I find about it. I always try to correct my spelling errors, but sometimes it's just too late.

Yeah, I now that feeling. :)

In Firefox you right-click the text field and select "Spell check this field". The nice thing is it's the unobtrusive, background, as-you-type sort of spell-checker made famous by MS Word. You know, just underlines things but doesn't interfere. However, I don't remember whether this was built-in or an add-on. I do recall that I had to download an "Australian English" dictionary.

Also, I've found that on one PC I have to select the spell-check each time, while on another it seems to be on by default. Haven't checked what setting that might be yet.

there is a 'check-as-you-type' checkbox in the advanced options tab in firefox ... i think the common-options tab in that section ...

                          kind regards

Hmm this is stupid, I wanted to download a dictionary for the spell check, and this is what I get:
"These dictionaries work with the spell-checking feature in Firefox.

                            All dictionaries"

                            Not quite helpfull...

Killer, thanks for pointing this out. This is what I was referring to in post #66, but I think it was misunderstood.
