  • Hey Killer,
I got the solution of my problem. I installed MS Office 2007 and run the same program without any modification at all. Now the excel files are protected as I wanted them to be. As I have to give only the output excel files to the users, it doesn't bother me if the end user has got Office 2007 or not.

    Finally, I did it man....

Is dreamweaver available for free or I will have to pay some amount for that. If available for free, can you provide me the link to download it.

Also, I want to know (sorry for deviating from the main topic, but its somewhat related) that how do I create menus. I have always been wondering how it works....

    HTML Page Design Tool

    Hi all,
I have been given a task to create a website for my company's intranet. The site would have about 40 pages or so. After doing all the requirements analysis and keeping in the mind the development environment I am used to, I have decided that I will be using asp (not asp.net) for development. VBScript will be used for both client-side and server-side scripting.

Having said that I would like to come to my problem now....

Creating PDF Files Using Visual Basic

    Hi all,
I need to know how can I create a PDF file using visual basic. If somebody can tell me the step-by-step procedure for that, I will be very thankful. Actually, I have researched and tried some ways but all in vain. It seems I am clueless about it.

    Anticipating a quick response....

    Hi Deba
Your solution seems to be OK, but I have a doubt regarding the third step. As far as I could collect, DB Links can be made for the entire database only and not for only a single user or specific users. Once the DB Link is in place, if people come to know, somehow or the other, the username and passwords for other users, they will have a read-write access to our precious data.

Seems me to be a dangerous solution to be...

    Read-only DBLink !

    Hi all,
I have got a problem regarding Oracle DB Links:

I have two physically seperate database servers with Oracle 10g installed on both of them. Both the servers are by used by us here within city. However, one of them is being used by other users also of our company in the span of entire country (India) with all the read/write permissions. And the other server is used exclusively by my office.

    Now, due to a...

    Hi Killer,

Agreed that I cann't beat face-to-face communication, but a careful reading of my question will easily reveal you what my intentions were. Its not that complex as it is being projected.

But I certainly do not wish that it was you balance. Because it is a debit balance meaning that my bank has lent that much amount to people and is required to recover that. Still, if you want that to be your balance,...

    Hi Killer,

Sorry for the delay in reply. Actually I was on leave for seven days.

I have got the solution to my problem. The solution was to make my recordset as ForwardOnly. That way, it didn't bother to store the scanned records in memory and my problem was that only, excessive use of RAM.

Now, I am able to scan about 20-30 million records at once. Although, my requirement was upto 50-60 million, but...

  • Hi Killer,

Its my turn now to help you out. After researching on your problem, I found the solution. It is although not the perfect solution but yes will work for sure.

After copying your text from Word, do not paste it directly in Excel. First paste it in notepad, there again copy the text from notepad and then paste it in your Excel sheet.

I know solution is not an efficient one but may be useful if...

Why don't we have number of views

    Hi all,

I find a very clear distinction in the forums of this site and those of others. The distinction is that in other sites against every post there is an information called "views" which means how many times a perticular post has been viewed. I was just wondering why such a common feature of forums related sites is absent here.

I request the site designers to please add "number of views" feature...

Thanks Killer, for the thoughts you have put. But unfortunately, nothing could spark here. I will tell you one by one:

    • I am using an Oracle 9i server which is installed on a seperate and very powerful database server exclusively meant for this purpose only. All the queries and database related operations are carried out on that server only. Its not my PC where it gets done.

    Memory Issues in VB

    Hi all,

I am stuck in VB once again. I think, VB is something about which you cann't say at anytime for sure that I have mastered it completely. Anyways, my issue is stated below:

I am making a program in VB which will
    • Fetch the records from a table of an Oracle 9i database.
    • Table has got a column called amount and another called product_code. I have to add up the amounts for different products from every record depending

  • Hello Killer,
Thanks for your kind of support. But the fact remains that my problem is still unresolved. I will further explore it on other sites.

Meanwhile, I found one hole in the wall. It is that if you make an excel file as usual (I mean, not programmaticall y), and then protect it with disallowing the the selection of cells, when you close and reopen the file, it does remain persisted as it is (the way I want it to be)....
