Simply run AVAST free Anti virus (search google for it's download link ) and while installing it on your PC make sure you select an option something like - "AVAST BOOT TIME SCAN". So once system restarts after complete installation of AVAST it will scan your PC for any of virus (if present) before Windows OS completes BOOT procedure. It's very effective approach, so try it.

What software do you use most often?

Did you find any bad sectors in your Hard disk?

          Hi there!

I fear I can't offer a solution here, but maybe some more information. The same has been happening to my sisters computer too, even after a complete reinstall of Windows. I haven't scanned the hard drives yet, nor have I checked, if the RAM is loose, but I will as soon as possible. (Which would probably be next Wednesday.)
She too experiences these random crashes quite often when on the internet, but I don't think the two are related.
So Daniel, let's both hope that a solution is found! ^^

          Greetings,
          Nepomuk

            Hi.

Any decent motherboard will automatically shut-down / reboot your computer if the hardware is overheating.

Any chance that's what's going on here?

              Hi there!
I don't know about Daniel of course, but in my (sisters) case: no. I once switched of the "automatica lly restart when a fatal error occurs"-Option (or whatever it's called) under Windows and then it showed me a bluescreen the next time it would of crashed. So the decision to restart is certainly made by Windows in this case.

              Greetings,
              Nepomuk

Hi i think i have a hard ware error. because i have reinstalled windows, and before and after the shutdowns where the same, however they tend to become ore frequent as time goes by.

Regarding temp, the temp of my pc in bios after a random restart has occured is ~ 37 degrees Centigrade

                  Is your CPU fan working.

One more thing you can check. is there any cable of (cd-drive, flopply, etc) not insulated or any connection loose?

                    37°C shouldn't cause any problems. I usually don't worry until its passing 80° :P

Try disabling the auto-reboot when a blue-screen is shown. That way you can actually see what little details it provides. To do that you can:
                    1. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System
                    2. Go to Advanced
                    3. Under the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings...
                    4. Under System Failure un-check "Automatica lly restart"

My next step would be to run a memory test.
If parts of your RAM are corrupted, Windows is likely to throw up a blue-screen and reboot.

If nothing is helping, it could be a good idea to remove any non-essential hardware, such as CD Drives, extra HDDs, RAM, PCI slots, etc...

If parts of your RAM are corrupted, Windows is likely to throw up a blue-screen and reboot.
Well it did throw a reboot and show the blue screen...this is the error message detials it gave:
                      PFN_LIST_CORRUP T

                        Ok.
According to what I've read, this is usually caused by malfunctioning drivers.

Did you install any new hardware or driver updates around the time this started happening?

You can have Windows verify if the drivers are working correctly by using the Driver Verifier.
This may help you find out which driver (if any) is causing your problem.

First, make sure that you can boot up in Safe Mode. If the Verifier detects an error, rebooting in Safe Mode is the only way to reset it.

To start it, simply start->Run and type 'Verifier.exe'.
Just click next until the wizard completes. Then reboot your computer.
Note, that the Verifier will load on every reboot until you disable it.

Once it has rebooted, Windows will run *normally* until it detects an error.
When it does, it should show a blue-screen containing information on the driver that caused the problem. It will probably run a bit slowly while Verifier is active.

To disable the Verifier, run the 'Verifer.exe' again and choose 'Delete existing settings' in the first window. Reboot and your system should start running normally again.

Note, that I havent tested this in a while, but I doubt it has changed any.

Do a Virus Scan and make sure there are no programs that could be causing this.
