Try the Aptana IDE. From their website:

"The Aptana IDE is a free, open-source, cross-platform, JavaScript-focused editor and development environment for building Ajax applications. It features code assist on JavaScript, HTML, and CSS languages, FTP/SFTP support and a JavaScript debugger to troubleshoot your code."

As far as I heard, the best free HTML Editor is 1stpage2000 or 2006 (the latest) from evrsoft. Please give me feedback (linamazari@hot mail.com) if you tried that as well as the two others recommended: Coffee Cup 9 and the other one.

        Which is best?

        Thanks.

I can suggest Codelobster Code Editor as HTML editor,
for php developing try Codelobster Php Edition. One of them (I don't remember which exactly) is free.
Personally I use the second one and like it.
Have a look here: www.codelobster .com

Well, since you didn't specify an OS, I will throw Quanta Plus and Bluefish, both for Linux, onto the pile.

                Regards,

                Jeff

That is a very bad program, I would recommend Notepad ++ or HTML Kit

For Linux/Unix, I highly recommend geany, scintilla and, the all-time favorite, vi/vim.

Thank you guy's I've decided to try out Notepad++ and once I get a bit advanced I've read about some the other editors you have mentioned which I'll try out.

Vim is an another excellent editor which I actually use for programming scripts however the only problem it's not a good HTML editor as you can't quickly view what you have edited.

                          Thanks again guy's.

Hmm. What most of us do is have Firefox open on the side and click 'refresh'. You don't want to miss out on a better editor just for that.

I use HTML Kit for my coldfusion/html editing, and Topstyle for my css.
