You've been Dugg:

Digg is where people go to look at cool things while they eat a big bowl of cereal.

      Thanks for the thread.

I will explain what your problem is going to be.

VB runs msil code, that is it requires that you have your os installed already to run.

You need to compile in Machine code. with something powerfull like c, c++, but not as slow as VB.

          OR

you can wrap up linux and call it your own.

It sounds to me like what you want is a new "explorer" not a whole new OS.

consider that all of your file access routines are calling winodows routines to complete there file operations. Now, remove windows.

Your first stop should be Intels Developer Center. They have compilers that don't use windows routines. And they have software you can use to directly implement the Multi tasking Windows is doing now. It was never microsofts thing, it was Always Intels thing.

When you find out how much power you have using the protection registers that Microsoft hides from you now, you are likely to mess yourself. Have some paper towels close by.

When you 80 years old, and still havn't fixed everything the way you wanted, and you look back on your life wondering why you weren't satisfied using microsoft crap, don't say that I said it couldn't be done. Say that I warned you.

You haven't read the whole thread did you? Especially the posts about C++. But I must say that the things about intel were usefull, if this OS is ever going to get somewhere.

I DID go to colege. I kant spell for shore.

But I did take a little class called compilers. I know what it intails. I now what is required just to start up a computer.

                The world already has it.

My bigest disappointment, was that C & R, BSD, unix, etc being freeware, had no companies on the floor of congress pushing sales. That and only that made microsoft #1.

There is no way 300 million could spend the kind of money microsoft made without the US gov takeing it out of my check. Federal offices, state offices, etc.

Thats my Tax money bills livin large on.

I think the world would be a better place if Unix had marketing department. It would generate more revenue if B. W. Kernighan and D. M. Ritchie were selling copies of crap that didn't work every 2-3 years and built it into an impire.

It would be "SBC, Yahoo, att, K&D". :)

No I wont purchase a copy of a OS that was invented by someone who doesn't even have MY education. Or the undersstanding of how a compiler works, or how programs he uses every day are linked.

I wont even use it for Free.

But I'm not going to say It can't be completed. By all means go for it.

I'm going to build a computer with 16 octi-core zanthium chips. Making them up in my back yard. Maybe you could get it to run on that. I'll be shipping it with a holographic projection display that fills the whole room and turns your office into a virtual paradise. It'll come with a Scent machine that has digital reproduction of up to 148 different smells. Plus, you wont need a mouse or keyboard, becuase it'll read your thoughts and do what you want immediately.

                IT's Instant ON too.

Now who's Better at Dreaming !

You don't have the skills, the money, or the man power.

                Go for it!

Shame about all the nonsense. where does that come from? Am I browsing wrong or something?

Also, I'm interested in your home-built PC. When do you think it will be available with support for the full range of scents? I've tried making my own, but I'm getting old and my hands just aren't steady enough to place those 2nm wires properly. Those damned electrons keep ending up all over the floor, and take forever to pick up. (Here's a tip, though - a magnet helps. Take it from me, you don't want to use a vacuum cleaner - ouch!).

Oh, and about knowing what is required to start a computer up. I wonder how many people these days have any idea why it is (or at least was) referred to as "booting". That's probably why MS refer to it as "starting up" or "restarting " - they got tired of trying to explain it.

For any who may be wondering, no, it has nothing to do with kicking the computer. :) Well, not directly, anyway.

                    Dont know.

I think when I selected Enrighed content from the control panel it started putting that stuff in.

                    I'll switch it back.

                    --
                    2nm wires

Actually I was looking into Growing them from protiens. But you have a point, they may need to be isolated from the driver circuitry. (...)

In 1994 I came up with the idea of Sound modulation amplification, beyond the hearing range. It works like projection holography to put sounds at specific points in the room. By using a series of high frequency speakers, distinct frequencies converge at specific points and create new lower frequencies within the hearing range. Its not so hard to calculate by reversing the Fourier Series:

                    F(x) = A0 + A1*Cos(x) + A2*Cos(2X) + A3*Cos(3X) + ...
                    + B1*Sin(x) + B2*Sin(2X) + B3*Sin(3X)+ ...

And now that the Technical Securities Division is knocking ...

I was thinking maybe use a gig to manage some programs, and keep all of the user data, (ie:Documents and seting), in the subconscience of the user. That way when someone went over to there friends house, all of there personal data is right there.

-- In all seriousness, I owned a 386 before grass was green. I used to have to "boot" it all the time. The engineers told me that when it gets hot the case stored an excess of electrons. When the drive stopped spinning, the electrons Created a Static field effect that would keep the drive from spinning back up. and your right, I blew up 3 Vacuums before I bought a hammer and chained it to the case.

Good question, I wonder how many people in this thread know what the word "booting" or "boot" is short for. If you knew that but didn't know what was actually involved in "booting" you would at least get partial credit from me.

You may mock, but have you ever tried to pick out which are your electrons, from those that have leaked out of the light fittings? Those things are damned hard to identify.

And of course everyone knows that if you use low-quality coal-generated electrons, you end up with soot marks everywhere. That's why I only use solar- or wind-generated. (I did try tidal, but the salt tends to corrode your equipment.)

LOL. Got a photon mixed in with them once, too - hoo, that caused some fun and games.

My OS uses 100% recycled post-consumer electrons. Lets see any other OS beat that.

                              OK guys !!!!
We got a work to do , so lets start. First we need to know the number of the programmers that work whit us on this project , then we need some codes that you think will be usefull. So any ideas ????

PS: We need hard work for this !!!!

I can"t do C++ or assembly, so I don't count as programmer, I'm here for creating the graphs and stuff.
