    replied to C# - How to Find a "#" Character in a String
    in .NET
    Yeah, I've been looking through the code more.

    There some fancy .NET functions to seek certain character sequences being used. I've tried changing a few settings, but #s are still not found. I forgot the name of the function, so I'll reply back when I find it again.

    Something to do with System.Text.Reg ularExpressions I think....

    Thanks for the replies.

    Well, I've got this syntax richtextbox, one that does colour-coding to make it easier to read code, shader code specifically, HLSL, and there are two keywords, "#include" and "#define" that I want to highlight.

    Trouble is, when I add either of those as a keyword:
    Code:
    syntaxRichTextBox1.Settings.Keywords.Add("#include");
    syntaxRichTextBox1.Settings.Keywo
    ...

    C# - How to Find a "#" Character in a String

    Hi,

    This has been driving me completely crazy, and I'm haunted by it day and night, and I'm sure that there's a simple answer that'll make me bash my head on a wall, but I have not found that answer anyway.

    So, I ask now, is there some escape sequence, or some method of finding the # character in a string?

    I've also had minor issues with other characters in other situations, like a tab next to a couple...

    It's tiny.

    I already said, I included it as a resource, and extracted it when the program ran.

    The issue is, though, I don't know how to release the DLL so that I can delete it again....

    Oh yeah.

    But I'm not sure how that would help. This installer I've made will be named "setup.exe" , like most.

    What I've noticed about files with that name, is that in zip files, when you double-click that file, when you're using Winzip anyway, it will extract all the files included to a temporary folder, then when everything's done, that's it.

    I suppose creating a self-extractor would be a good...

    Yeah, it does, but I don't really like it. Looks crappy.

    It's no big deal to have the file sitting beside my installer. It would only be nice if it were all standalone.

    I'm definitely not giving up my installer for the given project. I'll probably stick to the method whereby the installer extracts its own Shell32 file at runtime. The file's only about 8KB in size, so having it left there should be no issue.

    Well, like any installer, this one has to create desktop and startmenu shortcuts.

    I've looked everywhere but I can't seem to find a method to create proper desktop shortcuts without using the Interop.Shell32 reference. Here's the code I'm actually using to create the shortcut:
    Code:
    public void createShortcut(string shortcutDirectory, string shortcutName, string targetDirectory, string targetName)
    {
        Shell32.Shell
    ...

    C# - Regarding the Interop.Shell32 Reference

    Hey guys,

    Sorry if this question is stupid, but I've searched everywhere, but I can't seem to find a solution.

    Basically, I've got this code that makes use of the the Interop.Shell32 .dll. This code is supposed to create shortcuts, .lnk files, desktop or startmenu shortcuts, that kind of thing.

    The shortcut creation code works a treat, but the issue is, I want the application to be standalone, since it...

    C#-APP: Creating a Custom Graphic Design

    Hi,

    I've been working with C# for quite a while now, and I'd like to start creating programs which aren't the usual old regular Windows controls. I'd like to have controls which are graphically unique, much like this (although this screenie doesn't show any, I intend to have buttons, and sliders and various other regular controls as well):

    I've searched for 'Custom UI' in the help files, but it just starts telling...

    Visual C# Drawing is Beneath Everything

    Hi again,

    This problem is a little more complicated, and once again is in C#. I've create a form, with a groupbox, and in it, a picturebox. In the picturebox's paint event, I've drawn a black line through the middle of the picturebox, but the line is behind the picturebox and groupbox.

    How do I get the line to be drawn in front of everything? In Visual BASIC, doing the same thing works fine, but in C#, anything that...

    C# Form Opening

    Hi,

    I'm sorry that this question is really noobish, but I've looked in the help file, I've just tried using help from the intelisense, but I have no idea as to how I can open another form.

    In Visual C#, I've created a program, that'll be for taking joystick axis information, and manipulate it, and I've already got that working, but I have a second form, named AboutBox1, and soon, I'll be adding an Options form. But...

    DirectX SDK Errors

    I don't really think I mean errors, but it seems so on my computer.

    I used to have Visual C++ 2005 Express, and I tried the DirectX SDK, and it didn't work. I had some idea in my head about the express version not having every single library or header file required to make the SDK work, so I decided to get the full version of Visual Studio 2005. I'm glad I bought it, because now I have a whole load of stuff to work with, but sadly,...

    General String Number Formatting

    Hi again. :)

    Does anyone know of a simple way to turn integers into formatted strings?

    E.G.
    1000 = 1,000

    And is there any other simple way of cutting off decimals to a certain number of places? It cannot be rounding up or down, because it effects broken units such as inches, feet, etc. when they are modified for a list.

    E.G.
    8.79823 = 8.79
    11.9999 = 11.99...
