I work at a plastic injection moulding company as a QA Manager and I started a project in MS Access based on production figures, injection tools and associated scrap. Because some tools produce several Part Numbers it made sense to use Part Numbers as Primary Keys because they are generally unique. The odd two or three that were duplicated simply had an alpha suffix added to ensure that they stayed unique. Fairly straight-forward...
