  • also, ref your gradient issue, have a look on Techrepublic.co m - if my memory serves me correctly there's a couple of articles on there about making colour-gradient backgrounds with CSS....

  • Firstly, I'm not connected to the publisher and this is not a shilling post - I found a good book called "Build your own AJAX web applications" by Sitepoint when I was getting into heavy-duty AJAX a few months ago. It's got some neat examples to create edit-in-place text divs (so you dbl-click the appropriate entry/area and it changes to an edit form) that you could set to only be enabled (via the server-side scripting) if the user was...

Sorry, haven't got time to look through your code thoroughly, but I think I've noticed something that could be the problem:-
I could be mistaken, but aren't you just going through your form and creating key/value pairs for every element it finds there? Try putting in an alert to show the output of your createQuery method - I think you'll find it will have 4 instances of the color_id element. If so then the post must be taking the last one...

Is it possible to upload local images to this server (I'm guessing not as the IMG tag looks like it only serves online images) as I don't have anywhere I can load images up to, to create links to?...

  • If you want to do that with a listbox control, I would probably do that with either a form or some client-side scripting. If you want to bring up a pop-up/new browser window then you will need to do some client-side scripting, otherwise you may be better off doing this with a form as it negates the need for the user to have local scripting enabled. If you want to set this as a link, can you not show this as a list of values, with the above link...

I'm referring to the effect you can get with a table with the border set to 0 and a background colour so that if its width is less than the page width it will only take up however much room it actually requires, and no more, so it looks like a "frame". As I'm moving to CSS, I don't want to (ab)use tables for these sort of layout purposes any more....

    Thought so, thanks for that.

If anyone has found a neat way of doing this is CSS rather than having to go back to tables, I'd appreciate an overview, and if I work out an alternative I'll post it here.

    Cheers

    Phil...

    div CSS Width Setting

Hi, I have a question about setting the widths of divs with CSS that I have a feeling will be answered simply with a "no".

I have some divs that I want to have conform to the right hand side of their content but I don't want to arbitrarily set their widths to a set measurement or percentage. However if I don't specify a width it defaults to 100% of the page width. Is there any way I can set the width to automatically shrink...
