    IE margin problem again

    Hello again,

I've got another layout here and I've used some of the hacks I was shown in previous topics posted to fix IE to som extent. But once again I have a problem of a margin above my banner, and then my read more links in the wroong position.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

If you have a look at FF or Chrome you will see the way it's supposed to look.

Humm, yeah. I have browsed all these books online but wasn't sure which ones were good. I've browsed Amazon and some of the ones I think look good have gotten bad reviews from others on there. e.g Beginning ASP.NET 3.5 in C# 2008.

I bought Sams Visual C# today which will be a good start, as Sams always are. Though I don't think it's really about websites so my next purchase will be http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mi...

  • I've been looking at Sam's Visual C# 2008, which looks great.

    Summary of chapters: http://www.powells.com/biblio?isbn=9780672329906

Is this ASP.NET though? What would I be learning exactly?

Best book for beginning ASP.NET with C#?

    Hello there guys,

So yeah, I'm looking for an easy book to beginning ASP.NET 3.5 with C#. I want to start building websites in ASP.NET and will be doing it in university also so looking for an easy book to get me started. I have always loved Sams books in the past for getting started so wouldn't mind something similar to theirs. Sams do a book for 3.5 but it is in Visual Basic, and I want C#.

Oh, and I'm new to programming,...

  • Hello David,

Thank you so much for you help. I have made the amendments.

Regarding the maincontent div.... when I take the height off it the background image does not expand down while the div does (You can check form the web link).

I appreciate your time and have learned a bit.

I'm not quite sure I'll know how to fix for IE in the future still, but I suppose in time I'll learn.

IE 7 adding extra margin, & IE6, wow

    Hello guys,

I really need some help here. Trying to get this site working on different browsers. FF/Chrome etc are no probs. But as you'll see IE7 adds some extra margin under my navbar. How do I fix this?

As for IE6...it is insane, it's ruined in that. I take it IE6 doesn't support PNGs? Do I have to use GIFs? And the transparency is just the beginning. The layout is insanely messed up. I've uploaded to my own free...

  • Hi Howard, thanks for the reply.

It seems I had 3 d's in hidden so that was why it wouldn't expand.

I want XHTML so I have put:
    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE html
    PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
I have also validated the XHTML and CSS now.

With that now done, the div expands but only...

    Firefox container div not expanding

Hello there, hoping for a little hand with my problem here.....

I have a HTML and CSS page I'm creating and the container div (the outer blue div) does not expand. I have a maincontent div inside this and therefore the container should expand when this div has info in it. Which it does, a copule of news items which make it scroll down the page. But of course the container div doesn't go past a certain stage. I have uploaded the...
