Yeah I was considering animated gifs but I was curious about newer technology. For the most part, newer browsers can use Canvas. Primarily IE is the issue in which case we were going to use some type of script to overcome that. But your right, animated gifs are probably the best way to go. Any other ideas though I am still open ears. Even if I dont use it now it is good to know for the future when canvas because more popular. Thanks again,

Twist Image on Z-Axis in Javascript. Canvas?
I need to possibly twist an image on the z axis in Javascript. Here is the deal. We have sliding effects and so forth for our company's website but there is too much sliding. We want something more unique. We could do this in flash but I was looking for a way to possibly do it outside of flash. Essentially the effect we are trying to pull off makes an image twist. Imagine you put your hand in the air. Moving it up and down is like the y axis. Left... -
Disallow image downloads
I have a client who needs his photographs shown on his website but at the same time he cannot allow people to download the image. I have two thoughts.
A) Is it possible to disallow downloading of the images yet still allow them to show if a viewer wants to see them? (I assume image streaming would be the way to do that)
or preferably
B) Allow them to download the picture but if the picture is downloaded... -

Alright now here is a puzzler. I am big into creating effects in JS rather than images, flash, etc. For many reasons, loading speed being primary. Now I know its possible to use IEs filters to make blurred text but of course the problem with proprietary features like that are that not all browsers can do them.
That said, is there any way to make a blurred text effect in javascript without the use of IEs filters? Thanks in advance.... -
Ok. I already have jquery which I use for fading so that's no issue. And I have a color tweening library I found somewhere so that works for colors but it doesn't "glow". I think I will just give up though for now and use flash. Its only one menu that will use flash. Thanks anyway though.Leave a comment:

Making a glowing effect in javascript
Hey all, forgive the improper formatting as I am posting this from my blackberry at work.
Anyway, I am developing a website for a client. He recently informed me of features he wants. These can easily be done in flash but I am a big anti flash guy for multiple reasons. Plus I don't know flash. I know I can do certain things in javascript to imitate flash but one thing puzzles me.
How could I apply a glowing effect to...
