How much more (%) should contractor get vs FTE?

Hi guys, I've been working for a company as a full time employee (FTE) and have recently lost my job (no a big deal its a good market). I've been looking at a couple positions and been contacted by contracting firms/ staffing firms to fill contracts at various companies. I know the general market rate in my area and what I can get as a FTE and what benefits are pretty standard. I know this questions depends on the person and what I'm willing to...

  • Im not sure how to do that programatically , but I'm sure somewhere within the deployment project you can find the option for file association. To do this manually in windows XP open up Explorer. Then goto Tools->Folder Options. Then go to the file types tag and scroll through the list until you see the extension your looking for (or add the new extension to the list if it isn't there). Once you have the file extension you want highlighted...

Could you post the code that shows the creation of the second dialog box? Are you specifying a parent when you create the new dialog box?

I think that's a little harsh.. at least right off the start. There are other things we can do to pin the problem and fix it without reinstalling everything....

at what point does it not shutdown? Are you still in your desktop? can you view your task manager? Try booting in safe mode then see if the computer can shut down properly.

  • Perhaps you could expand more the entire process and applications involved in this process and perhaps we can help you find an acceptable solution. Perhaps contacting the creators of the program and see if 1 there is an update for the software or two see if there is something you can do to fix the problem. From a programmers standpoint it is easy to fix this problem.

You asked a similar question with playing an audio files. do some research about what you want to do. You can use the WIN32API for a windows based button. MFC is just a wrapper of the WIN32API and it provides some simpler ways to create buttons in windows. If you are serious about windows application development I would be looking at other languages. From the last couple of post it seems you need to do a bunch more research on these topics and...

  • The square box usually has to do with line returns in windows /r/n. What application are you using to open the file initially? Is this your code? Do you have access to the source files and can you modify them? When you parse your text file search for the /r from the string and remove it or try the same with /n. I have hit this all the time while working with files, just mess around with your carriage returns and that box will be gone.

I'm not sure about Oracle as I don't work much with databases (at least ones that i set up). You shouldn't have any issues installing development software such as visual studio or other similar IDE's. The basic requirements to install them on the home PC is dependent upon what IDE you install, but it shouldn't be a whole lot.

Is this an issue you have when setting up or installing oracle? I haven't needed to do any...

You asked two questions like this on the C forum. Please stop posting the same question multiple times in other forums. Have patience with the group, we are here to help on our free time. Posing multiple times in various forums is annoying and rude. Please read the posting guidelines of the site.

  • Have you updated your windows XP to the latest stuff? Have you downloaded the latest .net framework stuff or redistributable ? If none of that works I would contact the technical support for the application and they will help you find out what is missing.

Have you read the manual? How about what OS are you using? I like visual studios myself. Also, did you really need to post this question twice? How about what issues you are having exactly with errors that are displayed. We are here to help you, but you have to show some level of effort on your part.

To me it sounds like the display is just going bad and there isn't much you can do about that. Does your laptop have a VGA out? If so get another monitor and connect it up to your laptop and see if that monitor shows the same behavior. You could always try reinstalling windows or trying to repair windows as maybe some sort of windows file is corrupted, but I wouldn't have much hopes of that working.

How old is the laptop? Did you recently install any programs onto the laptop? How long has it been since you have done a reinstall/ restore? This to me sounds like the display is going bad or the actual video device in the laptop is going bad.

This seems like it should be a fairly new laptop. If this is still under warranty I would contact technical support right away and have them step you through a few items and perhaps get a...

  • Whats the failure message? I would try formatting the flash drive and give it another shot. Also check the read/write properties of the flash drive.

Here is a link with some suggestions Is this a first time install (no OS currently on HD)? Did you reformat the HD during the installation process? Is this a legit copy of windows?

  • You would probably be violating the license agreement of the developer addition, I would read all that information carefully. rski I think said it best, it depends on how much money you are wanting to spend. I would find your $ limit, then search out the programs that fit that range. As far as creating a GUI for the database I wouldn't worry to much about that at this point unless you are looking at doing 64 bit program....
