Are there any other sounds, or is it only when playing video?
If there's no sound at all, look if you have a cd which contains drivers for your sound device, they usually come with your motherboard.

Hmm, perhaps the drivers are available at the website of the brand of your laptop. So if you could tell us the brand and model of your laptop, we could help you searching.

            Here you go:
HP-Compaq has got a Presario Model laptop with model No. Presario C707TU. It is equipped with Intel Pentium Dual Core processor (1.73 MHz), 512 MB DDR II RAM, 120 GB SATA HDD, DVD Super Multi Dual Layer Burner and other features. The drivers for the same for use for Windows XP is not available in the company's website. You can use their Online Chat system to talk to their executive and get links to these drivers. Below given are the links to various drivers of Presario C707TU Laptop for Windows XP.

That's a list with all the drivers for your laptop, if you only need the one for sound, it's one from Conexant or Microsoft.

If you ever come across a situation like this again, just search google for the brand and model of your laptop + the word "drivers".

              Hello Friend

I receive the following Problem when I open my windows media Player to hear songs

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly.

Which software(Driver ) I have to download and install to rectify my above problem in the below link........... ..

                  Hello,

@davidson1: You misinterpreted Yarr's URL. You are visiting the wrong link (although the link that you visited also links drivers for your laptop if you notice carefully). You should have simply clicked the link Yarr provided so that a new browser window (or maybe a tab) should have opened. Instead you probably copied and pasted the URL that was displayed 'differently' by URL tag.

Yarr linked you to http://www.zyxware.com/articles/2007...laptop-drivers while you visited http://www.zyxware.com/articles/2007...laptop-drivers.

                  Hope this helps...

IF that does not work... make sure you reboot... it seems obvious but if you like to hibernate your machine this could be overlooked, I have seen it happen that for mysterious PC reasons sound cuts out until a restart
