how do i check SMPS?

Hai experts,
How can i check SMPS (Desktpo) and all MOLEX connectors are working properly?

is there any device or sofware to check SMPS?

You best way to test a power supply you are not sure about is to initially disconnected from any other equipment and use a multimeter to measure is voltage outputs. If they all seem correct then reconnect it and switch on and measure the voltage outputs again (they shouldn't drop much under load).

For Molex connectors or any other plug socket assembly on a board then visual inspection is the way to go, it would help a lot if you have a magnifier. If you can isolate the connection from any other components then you could again use a meter to verify then connection.

Oh another way to test a suspect power supply is to remove the suspect one and put a spare one in it's place. If the problem goes away then you kind of know where it was.

Of course you need a spare power supply to do that.

how can i check SATA power cable and connectors?

You know for things like that visual inspection is normally enough, it it looks ropey, the insulation is damaged in any way or there are kinks in the cable then get a new one.

If you suspect the cable even though it looks good try it in a different system, try a different cable in your system. In fact that goes for any component of the system you think is at fault.

If you are still getting problems and you really still think it is the cable rather than another component of the system then just buy a new one, the cables cost peanuts compared to the rest of the system.


It might help if you told us what the actual problem you have is.

I would say your out of luck then. You can not get software to test a passive electrical component which has no sensors in it (like cables and SMPS).

Like I said most people would not even bother testing cables, if they suspected them they would replace them.

Once again I ask what exactly is your problem? What exactly are you trying to do?

If you dont want to do experiments, try contacting your local computer shop for assistance. Your local computer vendor will be glad to help (I suppose). As Banfa has said there is no software to fulfill your purpose. Your best bet is getting help locally.

I will assume, unless I learn otherwise, that the apparent rudeness of your response merely reflects a difficulty of expressing yourself more clearly in English. I would advise care nevertheless. People generally don't appreciate being spoken to in that manner.

As for your specific requirements, I suggest in future, that you outline them clearly in your first post. That will save any confusion and allows people to avoid wasting their time answering questions that you're not actually interested in.
