Problam with user profiles

Hi everyone
I want all users who has admin writes to be the restricted users.so when i restricted them, it creates a new user profile. so is there way to prevents that happening. Windows2003 server environment with win XP clients.

what is happening in here is there are some domain users how are administrators on their local pc.So when Im changed them as restricted users on their local pc, a new profile is creating in their Documents and Setting folder as new user. There for i have to create there mail settings and all.

what I want is stop creating a new profile

OK, no problem. You can edit your posts until 60 minutes after you posted them, so if something like that happens again to you, just edit it and replace the text with something like [accedentally posted in the wrong place].

About your problem, can't you move the old users directory contents to the new users directory? So, from say

C:\Documents and Settings\oldUse r\* to
C:\Documents and Settings\newUse r\*

(and then change the ownership of those files).

how about if i give everyone full permission to the user folder for temporally. ill try that thanks

Please can you provide more details

How are you trying to change their rights?
What do you mean by restricted?

how are these users logging on, is it using an Active Directory domain or just locally held profiles on the PC's?

either way it should just be a case of removing them from the administrators group on the PC which should not make any changes at all to where their profile is kept

what I suspect is that you are somehow removing their permissions to access either the local or roaming profiles and windows is creating them a new one but this should not be happening.

it might also help if you provide an example user and walk through what you have done with their profile, also please check the permissions on their ntuser.dat file and profile and advise if you have checked the event logs on the PC for any errors when they were logging on.

okay, I have just created a user added them to local admins on the w/s and then removed and it kept the same folder

the only time I saw another folder created is if I log on to the PC as a LOCAL user , ie: logging on to 'workstationABC ' rather than 'TEST' domain then log on again as the user but this time using the 'TEST' domain account and this time the folder receives a .TEST add on on the end
