Ya i have performed the required operation and when i go to the Volkov Commander and see the files, i dont find my required files in C: . It has some other files in the list and even then i tried to find but to no avail. It is certainly a headache for me. I think i need to give up.

      Don't give up so soon......
Let's try as mac11 advised in REPLY #

If your data is still on hard dis, then this will solve your problem. In other words this is foolproof way to solve this problem.

If you're not familiar with Linux, there are serveral good live distributions that are very user friendly, maybe try Ubuntu, Knoppix, or Helix
Download any linux live CD (you can also try Damn small linux or puppy linux). Download any linux live cd distribution and then reply back when you have downloaded. There is already a thread in linux forum which I will tell you when you have downloaded any linux live cd which will guide you further.

      HOPE THIS HELPS.........

        Hi,

If you are worried about a specific file , try Command Prompt's "Recover" command.

It tries to recover an unreadable file.

How to fix NTLDR errors ...

            NTLDR or NTDETECT.COM Not Found
If you get an error that NTLDR is not found during bootup,
If you have FAT32 partitions, it is much simpler than with NTFS.
Just boot with a Win98 floppy and copy the NTLDR or NTDETECT.COM files
from the i386 directory to the root of the C:\ drive.
            For NTFS:
1.Insert and boot from your WindowsXP CD.
2.At the first R=Repair option, press the R key
3.Press the number that corresponds to the correct location for the installation of Windows you want to repair.
            Typically this will be #1
4.Enter in the administrator password when requested
5.Enter in the following commands (X: is replaced by the actual drive letter that is assigned to the CD ROM drive.
            COPY X:\i386\NTLDR C\:
            COPY X:\i386\NTDETEC T.COM C:\
6.Take out the CD ROM and type exit

Sorry that you have reformatted your hdd..
