multimedia audio controller

I've reinstalled windows xp under device manager i have the yellow flag on the "multimedia audio controller" under "other devices." i have tried to reinstall the driver by clicking on the yellow item, but that has not worked.
plz..HELP!!

what about updating the driver? did you try that?

Is your audio device on board (a part of the mother board) or is there a separate audio card? If its on-board stick in your motherboard disk (else stick in the disk that came with the sound card) and when you try to install the device it will ask where to search for the driver. Tell it to search your cd rom drive.
Another thing you can try is tell windows to search your computer for the driver and specify the C: drive. Sometimes it can find the driver under there.
