    explorer only shows desktop

    Hi,
I have windows xp (plus all the updates from the net) and when ever I try to open a folder or use the explorer, instead of showing me the content of any folder, it shows the conetnt of the desktop (in the case of the explorer it just switches back to the desktop folder,

Ive tried restoring the system to a point when this didnt happen, but that didnt change anything..

Anyone know what can be done?

    Thanks

Try right-clicking the folder and pull down to Explore, instead of double-clicking.
Let us know what happens in this case.

        hi there,

try to scan your comuter for possible viruses. it might cause your explorer to malfunction.

if you need to view some folders during while having this problem...try start, run, then type the path. example: c:\windows then press the enter key.

        hope this helps.

From TASK MANAGER > Processes Tab > End explorer.exe
to bring it choose FILE form TASK MANAGER MENU then choose NEW TASK, then write: explorer
          and click OK.
