help me to get my database back

    Dear all,

I lost my database on my pc as I format my hard drive. Now could anyone guide me how I can get a copy of my ms sql server database from my hosting to work with my local pc? I need to have a local copy so that I can develop my site without internet connection. For your information, I'm using Hostforlife.eu hosting service. I have searched and tried many methods to do it, but no luck yet. For example, I created a backup on Hostforlife.eu and restore backup file on my pc, but nothing happens. Then I created a new database, and re-created its structure same as the one on Hostforlife, then I used the import wizard to import data from them to my pc. Again, nothing happens.

I hope someone can give me a way of getting back my database to my pc as it's really frustrated if I don't have my database run locally on my pc. Thank you so much in advance.

Neither your title nor the post says please for such a severe issue.....

As for the advise, now you know the number one rule of development->always have a backup of not just your code, but your environment, especially if you're going to format the HDD.

Here are your options if you don't have a real backup....

Send the HDD to a lab, where the MINIMUM they charge is $1000, buy some software that costs $50-$200 and there's not a 100% guarantee that the data will be cleanly retrieved, or download some free data recovery that most of the time doesn't work. And there's only one chance to recover it if you do it with software.
Data recovery is definitely not cheap. The best way to fix data loss is by avoiding it and to have a backup. You say there's a backup, but what kind of a backup was it? What did you backup? How? I highly doubt that the SQL data was included....

Can the database data be re-generated with PowerShell?
