PHP code not getting parsed on WAMP server

Hi there,

I have some PHP issues. Basically i've installed WAMP so that i can have a webserver/local host. I have a local host but at the moment the php isnt doing anything. Anywhere i use php code it is ignored. even the most simplest code doesnt work. so i guess i need to set up wamp, could someone advise how i do this and the settings i need.

another question. do i need interent access on the pc that i use wamp and php? i usually do my web surfing and uploading on a different pc.

When you say it is being ignored, what happens? Is the code being written to the browser, or is nothing appearing?

If you make a page called test.php and have the only code in it be <?php phpinfo(); ?> what happens when you navigate to it?

A common error is trying to access the files in a webbrowser through the filesystem, rather than through the webserver. Make sure you are using http://localhost/yourfiles.php instead of file://C/WAMP/htdoct/yourfiles.php

I use WAMP, but you did not answer the question about what gets printed to the screen.

Hi,Phileep.
as u havent shown the error code or output of ur simple php script
but i think ur problm may be due to the following reasons

(1)U are saving it with a wrong extension.
(2)Check setting for php tags that u use in the very first line<? ?>this tag
coz php supports three type of tags andmay be in the config file the support for the type u r using might not be enabled.

hi,
download the Wamp server and instal it in the server, and make sure that IIS in the Administrator tools is disables/stopped
This should work fine.

If phpinfo() works, there is a problem with your code. Have you followed the instructions at the top of this forum about turning error reporting on?

This thread looks old, but if anyone stumbles across this like I just did, this may help.

upstone's response did the trick for me. I changed all my <? tags to <?php tags and my php worked.

(I eventually found the settings to allow short tags)
