Formatting Medium Date Using PHP

Hello,
I am looking for some guidance on how to format a date field as DD/MM/YY when displayed using a PHP script. The field format used in the database is medium date.

Not sure how PHP works with Access, but in an Access query you can use:

select format(datefiel d,"dd/mm/yy") as FormattedDate, ...

to format the resulting datefield.
