Fantastico Script Library

here's a novice question:

i'm about to register with a community web server that has the "Fantastico Script Library" (http://www.lunarpages.com/desc/fantastico.htm) installed on their servers. they will not allow upload of any server-side scripts for security reasons.

does this mean that i can NOT write/upload my own PHP script ("myscript.php" ) in order to get user input and uploaded data from my form?

it's confusing to me... any enlightening would be appreciated.

It sounds just like you say; I doubt you will be able to run PHP on their server.
But when in doubt, you should ask. Send an email to their support team. Not only will this answer your question, but it will also acquaint you with their services, and give you an idea about how friendly their tech support is.

It's been my experience that most scripts in Fantastico are out of date, and usually have security flaws. I can understand why they wouldn't allow you to run certain scripts that may hog system resources, but not allowing any script aside from what's in Fantastico? Ugh. Find another host, my friend.

the company's site is at www.hostpapa.ca... on their website they say they allow PHP, and users in their forum ask things like "how do i set a max file size limit upload?", and there's an answer... i'm just slightly confused because i've been developing my site on my localhost, and i just downloaded and installed PHP4 to work with Apache... i would assume PHP4 to be a pretty basic necessity... if anyone feel like having a look at their site and getting back to me that would be great...i'll call their tech support line on monday to find out for sure... thanks for the help.
