      Erwin, I don't understand. If a monkey isn't a plow, what is it
      doing in a field?

        Actually, you plough with a plough. Also, couldn't a farmer buy a plough
        for 500 pounds and thus "plough his fields with a monkey"?

        He could pay for it with a *cheque* too.
