    Networking problem

In my network there are one XP-desktop, one VISTA desktop and one VISTA notebook.

Whereas the XP-desktop and the VISTA desktop recognize each other, the VISTA notebook does not recognize the other computers (and is not recognized by the other two computers); as a matter of fact it does not even "see" the own computer except for the shared media.

This happens since four weeks - before that the VISTA notebook did not show these problems. I assume that I changed something by mistake.

Connection is through a router; all computers connect through this router to the Internet.

What was your question? You said the shared media was still there - are you having trouble accessing it?

I'm guessing one of the two sides installed a patch - if either are set to auto update, they come out the second Tuesday of each month.

The VISTA notebook does not show the other computers on the network. Under "Network" it only shows its own Media.

The question is, what to do to get the notebook to recognize the other computers.

Several things I am reading suggest that LLTD will need to be installed on all the XP machines (and verified as working on the Vista).

        Have you checked that?

Thank you. LLTD does not seem to be a problem: The XP and the VISTA Desktops communicate without any problem. The problem is only the VISTA notebook. Pinging from the notebook to the two other computers is positive, pinging from the other two computers to the notebook is negative.

So the two XP devices are communicating with the Vista box? I thought the original issue was the XP boxes not showing up in the Vista box.

Is it possible that the discovery and file sharing was turned off on the laptop?

maybe you accidently put your vista machine on a different vlan or something....th at can result into negative pinging and negative data sharing...

Are you browsing for the vista LT by name or IP?

Im curious if they are on the same workgroup/domain also!
