    Problem in booting from pendrive

I tried booting Ubuntu 11.10 from my pendruve, It says "press any key to restart" it goes into infinite loop. I'm having .iso image in my pendrive and currently using windows xp. My boot BIOS settings are proper and i've downloaded OS from ubuntu's official site.

The disk image needs to be installed onto the usb pen drive. Ubuntu has many tutorials, one of which covers this topic. Linux needs to be configured before you can boot into it. Click here.

thanks, but in my case, there was direct installer, double click and u're done. No need to boot explictly.

Can you post the links of the utilities you used?

To configure a USB to be bootable you need two items 1) the OS (Ubuntu) image and 2) the utility to write that to a USB drive.

Have you done an md5sum on everything used to ensure nothing was corrupted on download?

Expansion - I have seen a CentOS/RHEL utility to write an image to a USB drive, and pretty much everything else I have seen uses that. I will post the link as soon as I find it.
