Porting windows code to Linux - some tips?

Lot of Windows code (dll) need to port to Linux, can somebody gives some clues, what to takecare mainly.
not sure whether similar cals available in Linux:
1) LoadLibrary.

I am not experienced in porting from Window$ to Unix, but have you tried running the app under wine?

another solution that exists is crossover. It is a commercial implementation of Wine with some more bells & whistles.
