Audio problems with Skype in Ubuntu

    I'm very impressed with Ubuntu.

Everything works very well with my laptop in this flavour of Linux...even the media controls that I was sure wouldn't work do.

I'm having problems with Skype though. I've installed it and have been using it lately as just another instant messenger because I can't make or receive calls.

I keep getting an "audio problems" error whenever I try to make a call...or debug the problem.

The sound works great in Ubuntu. I'm listening to CD's and MP3s all the time while I'm working. It's just not working in Skype.

The microphone also works fine. I tested it using the voice recorder feature that comes standard with Ubuntnu. It's also not working in Skype...

Just Skype won't work. I've gone through every device that Skype lists trying to find one that will work but it just wont work.

The crazy thing about it is that the video camera works fine in Skype... a lot of good that's going to do if I can't make a call (hehe)

    Has anyone else experienced this?
How did you solve the problem?

    Thanks
