As somebody said earlier there are people who say "I'm a renegade so
that will have to suffice." Obviously they're going to ignore your
    preferences.

I think you're missing the mark with your conclusions. For instance,
do you want to know why I don't like your top posting? It's because
you use the -- to indicate the end of the message content and the
beginning of the signature line. When I -- an Agent user -- reply to
any of your messages Agent sees that delimiter, recognizes it for what
it is, and doesn't not include any of the following text in the quoted
reply. That causes the thread history to be lost in my reply unless I
explicitly copy and paste it into my response.

Generally accepted methods of posting vary from group to group.
That's why the netiquette guide lists point #3 as lurk for a while in
a group and see how things work before posting.

I hate Top posting it is the most junky way I have ever seen to post. One
it is hard as hell determining where the OP ends and the NP starts.
Secondly you are now putting the burden on me to cut and paste. Do I
complain about it? No I post the way I want and I am done with it. Do I
demand that you people cut with the Top posting? No I post the way I want
and I am done with it.
