In post #3 you have an extra
</div>
tag.
If there's an extra one of these close tags in your actual page code it could be causing problems.

Wait a sec...you're trying to use XHTML in IE6??
I don't think that XHTML is supported by any IE browser under 9 (or is it 8?)

IE6 will handle xhtml as tag soup (broken html), otherwise you are correct, IE couldn't handle xhtml served as xhtml till IE9 (and even then poorly).

I found as soon as I started using XHTML (even in IE6) that IE looked much more like the other browsers.
