Looking for ways to improve our drop down menu

This question is in reference to the drop down menu on Bytes.

I don't like the fact that our menu isn't ordered alphabetically in top down approach.

One of the reasons we had to go with the current approach is to make sure that the drop down box doesn't exceed the vertical window size on most computers, pcs, tablets, phones.

I'd like any suggestions you might have on how to improve our menu. How would you design the drop down?

A variation of foodnetworks . Just the menu that is "dropped down" though. It would allow submenus without literal submenus - making it easier to distinguish the different languages, OS, etc.

It would be nice to have the menu not feel so detached. Perhaps a darker blue when the mouse hovers that is connected to the "drop down" box?

For now that's all I've got. The current menu describes exactly what you're going to get when you hover over it; but after that it gets rather chaotic.

When I get time I'll look into this more, regards, Death

I'm not sure there's anything wrong with the way it is. You might be interested in this article

and here I was just looking for a sea food pasta recipe when I noticed Food Network's navigation... Ha, the pasta was good at least.

From a user's point of view that's not familiar with other languages, selecting the development 'tab' is a bit of a punch in the face wouldn't you say?

By the way, it's nice to see that you are still as creative as ever. ^_^
