How do I correct this css for Internet Explorer ?

    Hi,

I have my page how I want it in Mozz FF.

But now when I view it in IE - the page is messed up.

    The url is: http://www.expert-world.com/im/

so you can look at the site and the css (guru.css)

but to help I have taken a couple of screen shots
to show what I see on my monitor.

This is how the page looks in Mozz FF:

    BUT in IE ....
notice that the far right box has dropped down,
the "user id password" headings are moved over,
The menu is out of sight !!! pushed right down

I have created a separate css file to add code for IE,
but I do not know how or where to look to make the changes

The css is in the file called guru.css and the one for IE
    is called guru_ie.css

Can anyone help me sort this out ?

    Thanks

Really sorry to say that your page neither renders properly in FF nor in IE.
The CSS is really messed up.
Try writing the CSS again using W3C standards. Read some tips to write good CSS before that. Always consider all the possible resolutions, fonts substitutes and cross-platform issues to ensure that your page displays well in the maximum cases. Most important of all, keep testing your page while developing it. Use FF & IE for testing and not any IDE like Dreamweaver, Frontpage, etc. Try and install HTML/CSS add-on helpers in FF to debug.

      Hello,

I have updated my CSS and it now renders fine in both
      FF and IE

EXCEPT for one problem , and that is that there is a
horizontal line appearing on my Mozilla FF browser.

I have identified it in the image above.

After looking all through the source code, I can not find out where
      this line comes from !

Can anyone help me out ?

      thanks.

yes. i gues the line is a border that u hav used somewhere. some orientation mistake. may be "margin: 0 auto;" thing or no "float" given somewhere.
can u post the updated link? the previous link isnt working fine in my FF browser.

          Hi,

          Thanks for looking:

          Here is the link

          Horizontal line problem

Using Mox FF and the "Outline Current Elements" I thought that I would be able to see any border problem as the line should co-incide with a block element border, but it doesn't!

So I am still in the dark :(

Hope you can see the problem
          - the first image on my first post shows the problem.

I don't see the horizontal line you speak of in FF.

Wow - that is interesting !

So that line that I see and that I have screen captured
and shown in my first post does not show up in your browsers ?

Maybe it is a guideline of something in my FF ?
It does not appear on any other website though, only on this one !

                I don't know what to do ! - should I just ignore it ?
                What would you guys do?

test it in another browser and ask my friends.

btw. in Opera (besides also not having this line) the side menu is aligned too much upwards, the two first lines are out of reach.

Thank for mentioning the Opera problem.

It seems that in Opera, as you reduce the windpw width, it pushes the menu up.

                    I have fixed it now.

Well at least 4 people have said that they can not see this line in FF

So it must be my browser ? ( I guess )

As I said its not on any other websites, only on this one !!!!!
                    and only in FF !!

I will check for myself on a friends computer, if it
does not appear, then I suppose I will have to live with it !

it could be probably simpler done with CSS' position: fixed; (although that is not supported by IE).

I have noticed that this horizontal line
appears to be exactly have way down the
                        page.

Also I noticed that it loads first.
Is there any kind of browser setting on Moz FF
that I could have accidentally set just for the one
web address that would cause this
eg a "show fold" type of setting ?
