flash problem

Hii guys,
I have a css dropdown menu....because of the flash movie underneath the menu...the menu is getting behind the flash.....how to prevent this...

What operating system (s) and browser (s) are you having this problem in? Putting the page on a public server and providing a clickable link to it in your post is always a nice touch for a timely and on target reply.

Try setting the "wmode" parameter to "transparen t".

Somewhat like:

Don't remember but can't you set the z-index for the menu and flash objekt with css.

The menu is in front of the flash block in XP IE/7, XP IE/6, and in Mac OS X 10.4.11 Opera/9.52, Safari/3.1.2, and Camino/1.6.3.

"Contact Us" is beneath "Home" in IE/6. The fonts are frozen in IE/6 and IE/7 (the faculty and some students are gonna love that). The page is unusable at minimum font-size 32px in Opera. And no images or flash appears on my end in Mac FF/3.0.1.

You may want to validate the markup and CSS.

Forgive me, but good grief man, this is like "pulling teeth." For the third (and last)time: what browser are you experiencing this in. There are many versions of Firefox, and not all versions of Firefox are the same. What version(s) of Firefox are you experiencing the problem.

I see no issue in Firefox/3.0.1 in Mac OS X 10.4.11, nor in XP Firefox/3.0.1 with the "Courses" drop-down being behind the flash block.

I am not able to test the page in any pre Firefox/3.0.1 browser on Mac or PC.

The only flash block I see is somewhere far of to the right.
The little image belove the course drop down is an animated GIF.

Thanks, Atli. In whatever operating system you are using, and whatever version of Firefox you are using, is the the "course" drop-down in front of or behind the flash block or the animated gif?

The "course" drop-down is always in front of both the flash block and the animated gif on a drag from 1680 to the point where the h-scroll bar appears in FF/3.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.4.11 and XP.

But then I may need more coffee...

Using Vista... tested with IE7, FF3, Opera 9.5 and Chrome.
The page looks different in each of them, and none of them actually has a flash movie anywhere near a drop-down menu. (It's always for of to the right.)

The GIF, however, is behind the 'course' menu in FF3, but not in range of any menu in the others.

Validate your markup!
There is really no point in even trying to fix a specific problem until the markup is in order.

Hey guys - I have been having a similar problem with this page: http://www.goworkabout .com/dev5/

As you can see the dropown stops as soon as the flash banner starts. I have been playing around with z-index and transparancy but none of that seems to make any differance to the dropdown.

Only thing i can think of doing is putting some content there to move it below the drop down or have like a 20em margin-top haha (i only have a 8em margin at the moment so you guys can see what im talking about).

I have only been testing in IE-6 and FF-3.

As previously stated, I could not able to reproduce the problem before you sent the capture, nor can I reproduce the behavior in either FF/3.0.1 on a Mac or a PC as of this writing. Apparently, the issue you have may have been corrected and resolved in the current version of the browser. Among many other things some stacking order bugs were corrected in the current releases. Whether these will also apply to FF/3.0.1 on your Linux remains to be seen.

Install FF/3.0.1 on your machine and if the drop-down menu then works as intended, please forget about the issue in your old version of the Firefox browser, and lets go on to other things...
