Site Layout Problems

I am having some layout troubles with my site in IE6 and FireFox. The
site is located at http://www.wickliffe.lib.oh.us/New/home.htm The top
and bottom images in the link box in the upper right have space above
and below them that I don't know how to get rid of. The page appears
correctly in Opera, and yes, it validates as HTML 4.01 Strict. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.

and opera7.5, moz 1.6

remove the spacer images (which you shouldn't be using anyway, use css).

it may be valid but your markup seems a little confused. why the '/>' ?

I upgraded my version of Opera from 7.23 to 7.5, now it looks
incorrect in Opera as well. IE6, FF, and Opera 7.5 all render the
same.

The whole page looks the same. The problem I described in the first
post now applies to Opera 7.5, IE6, and FireFox.

They're not really spacers, they're part of the border for the box.

Guess I'm getting XHTML and HTML 4.01 mixed up.

whatever they are thats why you're getting the spaces you don't want.

Yeah I can see that they aren't lining up correctly, that's what I'm trying
to fix. They are part of the border of the box and I want them to line up
with the edges of the div but I can't get them to. Removing them is not an
option, they are part of the border.

Just had to mess with the vertical-align attribute, works like a charm. :D
