how can i make users on my website download a whole folder from my host server..i tried to link a button to the folder location but instead the explorer is opening the folder and viewing its content.

Zip the contents and give the users a link to the file location on your server.

I was think of that one, but what about those that have Mac. they can not open pc zips.
So you will need at least 2 versions on for mac and the other one for PC. PC need to be a universal one so anyone can open it. I think Winzip can do that for the pc version.Mac has stardard one as well, but I can not remember the name right now I think its called stuffit.

Mac StuffIt Expander and BOMArchiveHelpe r both support *.zip according to Wikipedia. Are you sure that they don't?

Anyone can unzip a zip file. It's not a Windows-only method.
