Hello, I want to hide a certain part of a function that generates last updated articles in the CMS I ma working with so that only the date shows, not the name of the article. I want to do this on the homepage. Will hiding one word in the footer make it susceptable to being banned by Google for hiding text?

maybe make the text the same color as the background. But if you really have to hide it from the browser you will need to use CSS.
