    Do we need softwares?

    Hi friends,

Can anybody tell me that how professional web designers/developers make a website?

Do they use any software for making an attractive website or they just make the website manually?

    Thanks
    Deepak

Do you know HTML? Once you do it is pretty much up to you. You don't need any software use notepad. If you're not experienced with HTML here is a link.

I am very good in HTML. But when I see some websites on the internet, they are very good in designs and they can not be made though writing manual code in html. Then how they do that?

How they create very much good and attractive designs?

Not true at all. Anything you see can be done with hand coding. But you have to define what you mean by "attractive website". Images are frequently created with Photoshop and similar software. Pages can be laid out with software such as Dreamweaver. But many sites are also laid out manually or at least tweaked by hand.

Now you are asking how to make you a better artist. I can't do that. It is something that you get better at with practice and study. There are books that can help learn the craft and get better at it and other artists who can teach you things but this is not the place for that.

Search the net and you will find many sites related to design and art.

One of my favorite things when developing a new site is to just spend a few hours surfing around look at different color schemes, then decide what colors you like. Or you could play around with a color picking tool like this. I still prefer to use notepad when developing HTML sites tools like Dreamweaver/Frontpage/GoLive usually output more code than needed which increase file sizes.

In my experience looking at artistic sites, trying to understand what is behind the design and the techniques used AND A LOT OF INSPIRATION AND HARD WORK, can do a lot for you. I find some of the designed sites, that you can see at Zen Garden, real artwork.

But what they all (CSS guru's and designers) teach you, is to first make a design like you want it to look, without worrying about the techniques or limitations. Just using a sketchbook, a photo compilation or a picture from a magazine. After you are satisfied that what you habve 'desgined' is exactly what you want, only then you start implementing the techniques to get there.

I must say that that approach usually works fine for me. Start with making a design, not bound by limitations or techniques, that comes later.
