    Google HTML -> WAP converter



    Seems to be down at the moment, was up a few hours ago.

    Works ok from here - assuming that what I'm seeing is the thing actually
    working. I can't see the point of it.

        Um, that bare form is crying out for an explanation of
        what it does. Do you have a URL for that?

        FWIW, it looks a little like some of what I was hacking
        about 4 years ago, before it became a real live application.

          It transforms any web page into an (invalid[1]) XHTML 1.0 Mobile page,
          resizing images as it goes along, to allow them to fit onto a "typical"
          mobile phone screen.

          There's not an awful lot of point, as most mobile phone companies tend to
          provide a gateway/proxy that does this for you already.

            Aha - I'll be sure to check back when I work out what 'typical' means.

            Yes, I see (and agree - largely pointless)

            On the page I looked at - the effect appears to be simply to ignore CSS
            and munge the markup. Oh well.

              It also conveniently strips out alt attributes. :-)
