Save me from FrontPage - what do you recommend?

I've posted a few times...and several people have suggested that I drop
    FrontPage...

I'm ready to do that now... :)

Please let me know what you recommened I use...It can be one program
(FrontPage-like) or a combination of that AND straight coding.

    I'll start the list:

    1. straight coding
    2. ?

    Thanks for the help.

I manually code all my HTML. However, I read that Nvu 1.0 was just
released yesterday. See <URL:http://www.mozillazine .org/> for the
announcement. It can be downloaded from either
        <URL:http://www.nvu.com/> or
        <URL:http://nvu.viapanda.co m/1.0/changelog/> "for Windows, Mac,
Linspire5, FC3, Linux 2.6.10, and for the first time Mandriva."

I use Mozilla as my Web browser because I want a browser that
complies with Web standards. See <URL:http://www.mozilla.org/>.

I have been using Nvu for a while under Linux. Haven't tried Dreamweaver -
it probably has too many "bells and whistles" for me. Looked at Macromedia
Contribute. It is probably more for maintaining a site than for creating
one - and it isn't free, like Nvu. I had a look at an old version of
another WYSIWYG program, but it wouldn't allow me to set zones on a precise
or round number of pixels. I like Nvu for its access to the code. It will
allow you to edit online like Contribute.

Just as a matter of interest; if I hit carriage return under Nvu, I always
get a <P> tag. To get a <br> I have to go to the code page. Am I doing
                something wrong?

Haven't used Nvu, but try Shift+Enter.

From what I've seen of it - its OK, so long as you know HTML inside out to
correct it where it goes wrong, and if you don't try to use the graphical
                    view for layout.

.... but then you end up paying a lot of money for not very much
                    functionality.
