Accidentally deleted Python from my system; how do I get it back?

I uninstalled a program and its components from my compaq desktop computer. What is this and if I need it for the operation of the computer, what can I do to fix it? It was called python... i thought it was a game!

      Heya, Rapier. Welcome to TSDN!

Changed thread title to better describe the problem (did you know that threads whose titles do not follow the Posting Guidelines actually get FEWER responses?).

You can always re-download it from the Python Language website.

That's interesting... I discovered Python and became a developer using that programming language by buying a Compaq.

You don't need it for anything that I was able to find that is prepackaged with that computer.

My guess is that you bought a unit off the floor (as I did) and the techs had Python installed as one of their tools (and never bothered to remove it).

That's VERY interesting. Perhaps this is HP's attempt at proliferating Python into the community (I hope for the day that Python is as commonly installed as Java).

As far at the installed software on my machine, I never found any ".py" or ".pyc" files in the \HP directory. There are some packages (OpenOffice is one) that allow extension using Python as a scripting language, but they all seem to have their on Python DLL when they are installed. I wonder what HP is up to on this one...

              Thanks for the link, epots9.
