    Creating standalone from MS Access

    Hi there,

I have created an ms access based application and want to distribut it to different users. But the problem is they dont have msaccess installed on their machine and our managent is not ready to bear extra cost for it.

Is there any way I can create an exe from the ms access application.

if yes, what are the steps

if no, is there any other option that I can use to make the forms work on machine without having ms access installed.

    Please suggest

    Thanks,
    Yogesh

Well i have answered this question before and the answer is you'll need a developers kit possibly (microsoft office 2000 developers tools version 1.5)
thats if you want to spend $300 to $400 for it.

You could alsways design and implement a program in VBA or another programming language. This is not trivial, but some people like to do it that way. If you do though, you'll need to post further questions in the relevant forum.

      Good luck.

You can distrubute your application as a runtime version.

For Access 2003 you will need to purchase Visual studio 2005 for the microsoft office system (this includes Access 2003 developer extensions). It has the run time licenses.

For Access 2007 I believe the developer extenssions are free

With the above you can distribute and run your application on any PC even if it does not have Access on it.

If you need any more info just let me know.

I don't know if this is a viable alternative or not, but it might be worth investigating further:

The Access 2007 Runtime is free, and in many cases compatible with Access 2003. I've had success with it.

BTW, you don't have to create a "runtime" version of your database. Just install the runtime on the computer, then put a copy of the database on the computer. It will run with the functionality that the runtime allows, which is basically everything except developer functions.
