I'm in the same boat. If I don't have projects to work on I watch paint dry all day -
Yes, the drivers are installed on the system, and I am able to print when the printer is connected to the PC via USB.
Don't think anyone out there has any answers on this. I was told that the person who set up this print server before me had the same troubles. I was told "he just put in the IP" I'm guessing that means that he added a port in the add printer wizard and typed in the IP Address. However, I can't seem to duplicate...Leave a comment:

I would keep two connections, one for at home and one for at the office. Disable and enable whichever you please, you keep all the settingsLeave a comment:

I would first check for new motherboard drivers, a lot of new versions come with more capabilities.Leave a comment:

is it possible to upgrade the laptop with more ram? you also might want to check your system properties screen to make sure all your ram is still being detected. Good luck. Might want to start shopping for a cheap newer laptop.Leave a comment:

This is a phishing website. Somehow this program comes along and is a pain to get rid of. A family friend had this same problem, even signed up for the thing with her credit card! I contacted her credit card company and let them know it was a noob mistake, and everything was fine. I tried all kinds of programs to get rid of this thing, but the best way to get rid of something like this is just a full reformat :)Leave a comment:

Right click the shared folder on the vista computer and change the permissions. If these aren't shared computers, or you aren't worried about other computers getting into some of your files, then continue on with my instructions. Go into the security tab in the properties screen. If there is a group named "everyone" click it, and where the check boxes show up check the "allow" check box next to "Full Control".Leave a comment:

US Robotics wireless print server setup
Hey all, I'm using a US robotics wireless router, and I want to connect a HP Color Laserjet 1600 to it for use as a network printer. I followed the directions from the USR website carefully (http://www.usr.com/support/5461/5461-files/printer_install ation/index.html) and when I get to step #10 the wizard pops up an error saying "Windows cannot connect to the printer..." what am I doing wrong? -
I might not be the person to answer this question but since no one else has said anything, have you tried putting more memory in your printer?Leave a comment:

I am very aware of the security techniques commonly used, however my problem isn't necessarily with security, it's with my lack of router-server skills. I'm assuming it's something simple like turning on DHCP but I'm just asking around to make sure I dont fudge something up :) thanks

Beefing up network security
Hey guys I just got hired at a mortgage company and they've asked me to beef up their network security. Currently there are no encryption or passwords on the wireless router (A Belkin 54g). The router is plugged directly into the server. My problem is when I reset the router the default settings would not allow people to connect to the network, however when I turned on "Act as just an access point" option, apparently what it was before,... -
Same thing at my high school when I attended, Start-Run-"cmd" worked :)...Leave a comment:
