Leaving it blank will not let it be updated so my code wont now what has been selected and the dropdown window doesnt close.

Maybe I need to be more specific.
I want to be able to use the after update event of a acComboBox on a Form in MS Access to run code based on its value.
The problem is I dont want to bind the ControlSource to a Field in a Table or Query. I just want the value to be on the form alone. Is there a function, expression or method I can use.

Hi,
this is the first time that i see the need to not work around the problem i'm facing. I am making a couple of databses in MS Access and cant get a dropdown combobox to be bound to something else then a field in one of my records. I want it to be empty and run code depending on the choosen value not having this value be inserted into my database. Is there anybody who knows how this can ben done?
