So do you mean that after creating the master FE .mde file, I should create a shortcut directly from each user's workstation. Do I need to save it on the same drive as the FE .mde file i.e on the server or on their local C:\drive?
I am also concerned about a backup. Do we backup the master BE.mde file by just copying it on the server after work? we have Access 2k. Access 2002 and Access...Leave a comment:

Hello everyone,
I am quite new to this forum and also to Access.
I have a quick question regarding splitting a database: do I need to create a .mde file for each front end copies? (installed on each user desktop on the server). The master FE and master BE are on the server.
Please let me know if you need more infos fro this question.
