    If you use a datetime object and only pass in the date DateTime.Today etc
    to any object that uses a datetime object, the time will be set to 12:00:00 AM. This includes SQL Server.

    Win App or Web App?

    if your only viewing it in the grid, this is what you would use.

    Code:
    <asp:BoundField DataField="YourColumnHere" HeaderText="Listed Date" DataFormatString="{0:M-dd-yyyy}" HtmlEncode="False" />
    You can also insert other controls into the gridview

    <Columns>
    <asp:TemplateFi eld>...

    here is a small sample of code you will be using
    Code:
    //send our post to a asp.net url
    PostSubmitter post = new PostSubmitter();
    post.Type = PostSubmitter.PostTypeEnum.Post;
    post.Url = url;

    post.PostItems.Add("TextBox1", _userName);
    post.PostItems.Add("TextBox2", _password);
    post.PostItems.Add("__EVENTTARGET", "Command1");
    post.PostItems.Add("__EVENTARGUMENT",

    Yes, I have done the same thing in a previous project.

    This http post class and the SGMLreader (html to xml, get it while its still being hosted here) will be your best friends.

    You can find a few articles on the net on using the SGMLreader.
    I used it to do xpath queries to get the data I needed from the http response.
    I used Visual Xpath to create the queries for me.

  • im not sure if this is what you want

    Code:
    string s = "00:01:00";
    DateTime d = DateTime.Parse(s);
    Response.Write(d.ToShortTimeString());
    this will return 12:01 AM

    Im not sure why but setting the width of textboxes is inconsistant across browsers. You shold set the column property instead.

  • 1. These are sealed classes meaning that they cannot be inherated from.

    2. I really cant figure out a better way than what you did for the unique problem at the moment except replace that control. I would have probaly retrived the data as a dataset and looped though that to replace the characters and gave that to the control.

    As long as the end result is what you want, move on to the next task.
    Its really not worth...

  • you can connect to an excel file using a OleDBConnection and run a sql query to get the data from it.

    Code:
    string sql = "SELECT  * FROM [WORKBOOKNAME$]";

    string strConn = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OleDb.4.0;data source=" + fileName + ";Extended Properties=Excel 8.0;";
    OleDbConnection objConn = new OleDbConnection(strConn);
    OleDbCommand objCmd = new OleDbCommand(sql, objConn);

    The web.config file is the best place for it. Not only having a single known place where you can update it, you can also easily encrypt it.

    The VS designers places database credintials in the web.config file itself.

    Then dont hide the label in .net
    use inline css
    add this tag to the label

    style="display: none;"

    and then use js to change it to display:block

    Code:
    document.getElementById("elementnamehere").style.display = "block";

    Tried to edit my post but i couldnt.

    If you have the right versions installed and nothing in the toolbox, right click the toolbox and select "reset toolbox" the extensions should appear.

    Then open your page, delete the scriptmanager and drag one from the toolbox to the page.

    3 questions

    Do you have vs2005 SP1 installed?
    Is this version 1.0 of ASP.NET AJAX or an earlier release?
    In the tool box do you have a section for the AJAX extensions?

    replied to ASP.Net & VB.Net
    in .NET
    VS 2005 is Visual Studio 8

    ASP.Net is a set of technologies that are used for web development.
    It is not a language it self.
    When creating a ASP.NET site you can use any .NET language you wish C#, VB etc...., for the server side code.

    If they are asking for VB.NET or ASP.NET you can safely assume they mean a winform application for VB.NET.

    replied to Upload file field
    in .NET
    It is a setup program that you install on the server and only works with asp.net 2.0

    However you can install it on your dev machine and add a reference to the dll file instead. A copy of it will appear in your bin folder, be sure to upload this to your testing/production machine. You will have to update your web.config file, but all the required settings can be found by creating a new asp.net ajax site and copying the settings.

    I havent touched a datagrid in a while
    But here is what i do in a gridview control
    instead of using a editcommandcolu mn change it to a Template and add a button along with the command name.

    *The syntax is not the same for a datagrid, but you can figure it out easy in VS

    Code:
    <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Delete">
    <ItemTemplate>
    <asp:LinkButton ID="lnlButtonDelete"

    Im going to assume you have no problems with writing code to select/update/delete anything from the database.

    If your not familiar with the uploadfile control check out this
    FileUpload

    Now the nest issue is parsing the csv file that you just uploaded and saved to the HD (or memory)

    The best csv parser i have ever used is HERE
    You can easily get how to use it and get the columns you want...

    No. Page not found is an IIS error, not a .NET one. No Web.config changes are rerquired.

    Be sure you are giving them the correct IP address. Open up the command prompt and type 'ipconfig' This is the correct address.

    And if you are giving them the correct address configure your firewall to let port 80 though.
