i wonder how di you find out that it belongs to the class B?,
heres the idea, if you know how to say its class, tehn you probably would know where does the host ends , and the node ends, right?

172.16.140.25 is in class B yes,

replied to Limiting access to drives/folders
    definitely YEs,
As you mentioned earlier you are using win2k3 server, so you have all the permissions in the folder or the drive itself,

if you want editing drive M,

then just right click on the folder insde it, then go to security and permission

add the names that are gonna have the permission onto it, then just dont add those who should not be in that folder,

    if you...

  • Hi,
though this answer comes a year after your question, ihope i may still help you out

    first what is a dhcp,

dhcp or dynamic host configuration protocol, it gives an automatic IP address to all computers, when the computer disconnects to the network, then he will have another ip address the next time he logs in courtesy of DHCP

    now, going to DNS
what dns does is to translate ip address...

go to the shared folder, right click-> sharing and security then add yourself, apply then try connecting agai...

replied to Accessing Shared folder on LAN
    hi,
    are you in a domain?,
perhaps that could be the best answer,if your on a domain, the primary purpose of network shared folder is to share information right?, but there are times that vital information are to be shared with someone, excluding other users, so NEtwork share permission will come up

if the folder is only intended for a group of users, win2k3 have created a security onto the folder, where all authorized...

    hey,
can the isolated pc ping the others?, if not try looking at the ipaddress of your pc, if yes, then look at the network neighborhood, is the name of the pc listed on to it?, if not better join him in, to get access of the network drive,

replied to unlock a word document
if you're the one who secures it, then you should know how to unlock it, if you say that you have forgotten the password, then there's only one thing you can do with it, try contacting the manufacturer of the utility or program that you used for support.

  • dns is just like this,
DNS- is domain naming system-it maps the ip address of a domain or computer offering services to either private or public,

you use DNS so that you wont memorize the whole ip address of a certain service provider say, 209.131.36.158 or yahoo.com

this (dns) offers a great idea in to an extent that we will only memorize the ALias of an address, that in turn will make make it easy for sus to...
