Running the Pass thru query as is, from the front end

    Code:
    EXEC dbo.sp_ViewFosterFamily 123456
results in a odbc connection error to sql server. One thing that did show up is that the odbc connection to - details were wrong eg

    domain\ServerNa me\instance

Is it possible to change them?...

Yes qryViewFosterFa mily is a Pass Thru not a Union query. Apologies for the misinformation....

Printing a report from SQL Stored Procedure

A bit of advice would be good, I'm a bit of a newbie but I'm getting better.

When I first set about this project I was advised to use a Union Query as the Record Source for my Report. On my test system I ran the SQL server local to the client front end. Everything seemed fine, however now I have migrated the Database on to the Live Server, I can no longer print reports.

I'm sure I need to use Adodb but I'm unsure of...

This is an extract from the Microsoft White Paper

USING ADO RECORDSETS WITH MICROSOFT ACCESS REPORTS
In Microsoft Access 2002, it is now possible to use ADO recordsets with reports in Microsoft Access project files. Unfortunately, the use of the report Recordset property is limited to project files. If you try to set or retrieve a report's Recordset property in a Jet database (.mdb) file, you receive the following error message:...

I think I need to explain things better. First of all thanks for all your advice so far.
I am connecting to a SQL Backend from an access Front End.mdb file. Now from my reading, binding a report to a recordset isn't available unless it is an Adp file.

I've created an Adp file, imported all my forms and reports from my MDB frontend, and like you say I can statically set the RecordSource to the stored procedure.

Thanks for getting back to me. I have to admit I'm a bit of a novice to vb, so I'm a bit confused how to bind the report to the recordset. I don't know if you can enlighten me any further.

    Hopefully thanks in advance....

Access Reports from a SQL BackEnd

OK, I'll tell you what i've got so far. On opening an Access Report I am running a Stored Procedure (a Select Query). Now my Recordset fields have values, but I cannot associate them to the controls I have placed on my Report. What am I doing wrong?? For example

    txtFamilyName=r s.Fields(2)

Produces a runtime error 438. Object doesn't support this property or Method. I've tried assigning a String Variable to the field...

  • Retrieve Identity Field Value from a stored procedure into a form

OK first time poster, so hello everyone in advance. Right i'm sure this is a simple problem to solve, but I'm just getting the hang of SQL 2000. What I've got is a form where I input the values and then through a procedure these values are inserted into a table. That's fine. However I now need to open a subform which is linked by the ID field created through the first procedure. How do I retrieve that value back into the form??
