replied to ActiveX DLL digital clock
What you have been told to use this dll rather than making your own digital clock? Whats the name of this dll?

Ok if you only want to select this ActiveX dll to use in your project then open your project and select Project\Referen ces... find your the dll. If it shows an error once selected this normally means the dll isn't registered. You would have to register it with regsvr32.exe. Once its added to the list of references then you...

I would suggest you do a search for calendar on PSC there are 171 apps that talk about calendars.

This is a good calendar app that you can add different events and dates....

It depends how these dll's are called for. As a general rule they should all be in the Win\Sys32 folder. What the installer should do it check if this dll is already in the Win\Sys32 folder and if its older than the date of the newer one you are trying to install.

The advantage of installation packages is it put all the files in the correct place. I've said it before in your other topic on this subject. I wouldn't bother with P&D...

  • Or you could put the URL/HTML link in a Label. When you use passes the mouse over the Label the font could go bold, change colour or change mouse pointer so the user can see that it does something. When they click on the Label it uses the ShellExecute API call to open their default web browser which will goto that link page....

replied to Deplying crystal report 10 with vb6
Did you add the Crystal ActiveX to P&D Wizard? I think the newer versions of Crystal have to be used by a registered user because Crystal Report 10 isn't free. Thats why you can use it but your friends can't.

Anyway I would steer clear of P&D Wizard as its 10 years old now. I would suggest you use Inno Setup. People have problems installing onto Win2k/XP/Vista with P&D Wizard....

Why do you need to add an ActiveX dll. You can make digital clocks perfectly using the standard VB controls. Whats so special about this dll?

If you need to add any additional dll's to your VB app the you just click on Project\Referen ces.., find your dll and make sure it lists without errors then click Ok. If there are errors while adding the dll then it probably isn't registered,...

replied to sub or function not defined
    Welcome to Bytes jugal.

I see no error line hightlighted.

I only see what smartchap has picked up you are using an error trap but there is no ErrHandler in that Sub. You have stated and shown it in Form_Load.

Also when you declare variables use the correct type

    Dim SupplierID, Name, Address

All those will be Variants because you have stated anything otherwise....

  • This normally means you are using a variable, Sub or Function that you haven't declared. I dare bet your not using Option Explicit in any of you apps. If you don't know what it does or how to set it up then just ask....

Well this will depend on what additional ActiveX's your app uses. If it only uses the standard controls on the VB6 Toolbox then all you need is the VB6 RunTime Files mainly msvbvm60.dll. If you app is going onto a Win2k/XP/Vista system then they are installed as standard.

If your app uses additional ActiveX's e.g. comdlg32.ocx then it maybe on the users system if not then you will have to include it in your own simple package along...
