As a network administrator, I usually use Hiren's BootCD, Windows Setup Disk or Ubuntu Live CD to get around a forgotten password:

While if you can regain access to your PC without modifying the old password, you can try Kon-Boot....

What version of Office was your Word created? If it's corrupt, try to rename file extension to .zip, unzip it and you can recover the images and text contents inside it.
