thanks, Colin @isladogs --hoping to see Bytes members at the meeting even though, sadly Adrian @neopa can't come ... looking forward to sharing ideas about visualizing data with others -
I've just now seen this even though you posted it a couple years ago, so I'll put comments here instead of the other thread as you asked ...
zmbd, Your terms look good!
1. Nice! typo: Navigation Pan
2. Totally agree about not using Navigation forms! 'a lot of quirks' is putting it mildly ... they can't handle complex logic with multiple copies of a subform and are referenced differently which makes you...Leave a comment:

nice example, @zmbd. I tried using MSXML2.DOMDocum ent.6.0 to read the pages of my website but the HTML is too messy I guess. Things like <br> instead of <br /> apparently hang it up. My purpose is to get the pages of my site into Access so Access will eventually manage and generate the content. I ended up writing my own parser, and am still working on it. I don't know if how you did things will be helpful for my logic, but I plan to look...Leave a comment:

you need to wrap both parts with SUM
=Sum([tmin])\60 & Format( Sum([tmin]) Mod 60,"\:00")Leave a comment:

hi Gilley,
would you please provide the VBA code you're using to make the individual files?
It seems to me that each report would be filtered such that there is only one group, create the PDF, then loop to the next group and repeat until done.
How is your report set up? Are you using the Report Header section? Group header/footer sections? Detail section?
thanks!Leave a comment:

hi @Aryzona
this is missing the second parameter for the MOD operator:
[min] Mod ??
perhaps you meant to put 60 there? that will give only minutes left
Hours would be:
[min]\60
perhaps you want:
?Code:Format( [min]\60, "0" ) & ":" & Format( [min] Mod 60, "00" )

hi Adrian,
thanks for posting. I'm here now (smile). The link you provided is still good and has a lot of information on how to learn more about what the Analyzer stores so it can benefit you even more. There is also an Access 2000 version to download for MDB users, but it doesn't have near the features of the latest and greatest version, which is an ACCDB.
The current public version, which is still free of course, is on...Leave a comment:

if you are showing values, as opposed to filling them with code so they can be edited, the ControlSource needs to be blank.
If you are simply echoing information that canNOT be edited, then you will assign the ControlSource using equations and NOT use code.Leave a comment:

thanks, Z -- thought since he attached the image, he could attach a file too ... still, and always, learning. I would like to see his project to figure it out myself too :)Leave a comment:

Hi hefaz,
firstly, Name is NOT a good unique identifier -- there must be something better. Use an AutoNumber in the database structure to uniquely identify records. Also, since your database is for medications, I am assuming there will be a CustomerNumber or a PatientNumber that would also be unique.
If you need further help, we need to see your form and a sample database. Could you zip them and attach them? Or post them...Leave a comment:

hi hefaz,
it occurs to me that I perhaps got so excited when I saw Access that I misinterpreted what you meant. If you would be kind enough to ZIP your project and a sample database, we can look at it and attempt to give you better help.Leave a comment:

hi hefaz,
you're welcome
you are using Access? Well, then we can help you better! You posted this in the Visual Basic forum.
The easiest way to change information in a table using a form is to bind it to the RecordSource.
Go to the design view of the form.
Turn on the Property Sheet if it is not showing by pressing Alt-Enter.
the Property Sheet shows you more information...Leave a comment:

thanks, Z
so it would seem that hefaz needs to define the SQL to find a specific record, and assign a recordset variable.
Assume this would be something like:
...Code:Dim ws As Workspace 'this may not be necessary Dim db As dao.Database Dim strSQL As String Dim rs As dao.Recordset 'Create a default workspace Object 'this may not be necessary 'Set ws = ... 'not

for speed, another thing to realize is that inequality comparisons are FASTER than equality comparisons.
also, on IIF ... even if the condition is true, the false argument is still evaluated.Last edited by zmbd; Nov 15 '15, 12:25 AM. Reason: [z{merged related posts and edited text per S4P}}Leave a comment:

Great! Now you see that when you pick something from the combo box, the information you want is known too. So after you update the combo by picking a value, you want code to push that information to other controls.
Select the City control
On the Property Sheet, click on the Event tab and then in the After Update event.
Click on the Builder Button ... off to the right.
This will put you into code between...Leave a comment:

Hi,
lets just take this one step at a time.
First, set up the combobox to show the information you want to populate automatically.
Go to the design view of your form. If you already have a combobox, great. If not, then create one.
Turn on the Property Sheet if it is not showing. Press Alt-Enter.
Click on the combobox to select it.
On the Property Sheet, clickon the DATA...Leave a comment:

I often do what the poster is doing ... have a table of 42,000+ zip codes that I use to fill city and state.
Reference Database with Zip Codes, Countries, States, Area Codes, Airlines, Airports, ... voltages, flowers, ...
http://www.AccessMVP.com/strive4peace/Reference.htm
I did try storing FKs instead of values for city , state, and zip but it was incredibly slow and made searching and filtering more difficult...Leave a comment:

Add the columns you want to automatically fill to the RowSource for the City combobox.
Change the ColumnCount and ColumnWidths properties
on the City AfterUpdate event, set the values in the other controls.
Here is some code you can modify:
WHERECode:with me.City_controlname if isnull(.value) then exit sub me.State_controlname = .column(#) end with
# is the...Leave a comment:
