replied to $_GET not available problem?

    PHP Version and $_GET

:o Look at the Revision of PHP. ;) $_GET wasn't implemented until version 4.1.0. You may have to revert to using the older function $HTTP_GET_VARS.

  • A little help from php in determining file owner and permissions. You created a CRON file so create another entry that runs a php script. Have it go through the same process but report back the Username and GroupName. Remember to try and use the full path to the PHP executable as crontab doesn't run unix profile scripts that might normally add the location of the PHP executable to the envroment path.

    replied to Useful function perhaps...
    in PHP
 It was some where around here that the trip to the fridge for a cold beer and cold pizza slice created a "Perhaps Useful function" of the english language and not the Cigar hanging from our denmarkian friend's mouth. Doest it really matter, yeh (read yes) of course, he's got the culture down pat. Theres the rub!...

  • As a matter of security and an matter of bandwidth it's always better to determine your changes in the resultant web page your are submiting to. Get a extra hit to the database, query and build your update via PHP. Better yet though if you where running against MS SQL you'd do it in a trigger at the database, if your running in MYSql version five you'd also run it in a trigger on the database. If you can do it in a trigger always try there first....

  • Most larger firms use clustering to ensure their databases are always available. With MySQL there are DB nodes that then access the clustered servers. Personally I've not used the MYSQL clustering as most providers and services don't provide it as part of thier standard services. I imagine you would incurr a farely large amount of initial support trying to get two ISP to cordinate enough to push this through on MYSQL. Look here to get more info...
